The H-D® Dealer Promo Tool allows you to create sweepstakes that encourage a customer to engage repeatedly over a period of time by allowing them to earn additional entries and increase their odds of winning.
Here are a few questions and scenarios to consider when determining how many entries you should allow.
- How long is your sweepstakes going to last? The longer it lasts, the more time your customer has to return and engage, and so a higher number of entries might make sense.
- What's the value of the prize? A higher-value item or items may warrant a higher number of entries, as customers are more driven to increase their odds of winning an high-value item as opposed to a low-value item.
- Are customers registering in the dealership? If so, your staff can engage with them and encourage them to earn additional entries to improve their odds of winning, meaning a higher number might make sense.
- Are customers registering off-site? If your point-of-entry is at an off-site event, the chances the customer has to engage repeatedly might be lower, and so a single entry or small number of entries may be smart.
How can they earn additional entries? There are three ways a customer earns entries to a sweepstakes:
- Initial Entry: The initial entry is the entry the customer gets simply for registering. After they fill out the registration form and click the submit button, they've earned the initial entry. The number of entries for the initial entry is determined by you. It can be one, two, five or whatever you decide.
- Keywords: Customers can redeem keywords to earn additional entries and improve their odds of winning. Again, this is configurable by you. How many keywords are available, how many times they can be used, how many entries per keyword they receive, how many entries in a given period of time they can get - these are all easily configurable settings that you can author.
- Check-ins: Customers can earn entries by checking-in to geofenced areas. To see the check-in button, a customer must allow access to their device's location. If they don't, check-ins aren't available to them. Your dealership is already geofenced. As long as check-ins are enabled on your sweepstakes, customers will be able to check in. You must assign a number of entries to a check-in. It is possible to geofence other locations as part of your sweepstakes, a slightly more advanced topic which we cover under our "Geospot" section.
Remember - whatever you decide, make sure you give the customer a path to reach the maximum number of entries. If you set the maximum number of entries to 20 and you plan to use keywords as the primary mechanism for earning entries, make sure you create enough keywords that a customer can reach 20!
