The H-D® Dealer Promo Tool provides great flexibility when it comes to determining your contest behavior and mechanics. In this article, we're going to look specifically at CONTEST SETTINGS, how they work and what they do.
For context, remember as you read through these settings that a customer can generally earn contest entries in one of three ways - redeeming keywords, initial entry (their reward for signing up), and check-ins.
CONTEST KEYWORD VALUE
How many entries is each keyword worth for this contest? If, for example, you set this to 1, then every keyword redeemed by any customer will grant them one entry towards this contest. This setting applies to every keyword associated with this contest.
CONTEST KEYWORD TOTAL ENTRIES ALLOWED
How many TOTAL entries can a customer earn by redeeming keywords? If the maximum number of total entries for a contest is 20, and this number is set to 10, then a customer can earn up to 10 of their 20 entries by redeeming keywords. The remaining 10 would have to be earned via other methods, such as Initial Entry or check-ins. Often, this number will match the Total Entries setting.
CONTEST KEYWORD USE TOTAL
Contest keyword use total refers to the number of times that any given customer can use any given keyword associated with this contest. For example, if you create a keyword of "ignition" and set the Contest Keyword Use Total to 1, every customer can use "ignition" one time only. If you set it to 3, every customer could use "ignition" three times.
INITIAL ENTRY
Initial Entry is simply the number of entries a customer gets for filling out the registration form. To earn the initial entry, they don't have to do anything but register.
TOTAL ENTRIES
Total entries is the total number of possible entries a customer can earn in a given contest, combining the Initial Entry, keywords and check-ins. This number determines the max value the customer will see on their speedometer. In the example below, it's 50.
